Most electrical repairs should be made by a professional. But for all you "do-it-yourselfers" out there, here are tips on how to stay safe when dealing with your home electrical systems.

The Electrical Panel
Every time you use an electrical device in your home, power runs through the electrical panel, causing it to heat up and cool down constantly. These temperature fluctuations cause your home’s electrical panel to fail over time—the lifespan of a typical modern electrical panel is around 15 to 20 years. If you have a fuse box or another older-style electrical panel (you’ll usually see these in homes wired prior to the 1960s), it’s recommended to replace it with a modern circuit breaker-style electrical panel as soon as possible. You should also…

Hey everyone. Just thought I should share something with you that could make your day a real crappy one if you dont keep up on this little thing. I recently decided to replace the kitchen faucet and bathroom faucets in my home. So being the responsible home owner I am. I went below my sink and turned off the shut off valves on the taps. Well surprise, surprise. The hot water shut off did not work. It seems that the hot water use had caused the rubber gasket in the valve to deteriorate. and the taps still allowed hot water to run freely. So needless to say I checked the rest of the hot water shut offs and two of the three bathrooms also continued to allow the flow of water. Good thing I didn't start taking he taps apart first. Well it was a simple fix. I…

City of Calgary, October 1, 2019 – For the third consecutive month, sales activity improved over last year’s figures, and year-over-year new listings and inventories eased. This trend will help support more stability in the housing market.

“Price declines have likely brought some buyers back into the market,” said CREB® chief economist Ann-Marie Lurie, noting improvements in the market continue to be driven by homes priced below $500,000.

In the condominium apartment market, sales improved by 16 per cent this month. This represents the segment’s best September since 2015.  Year-to-date growth in both the attached and apartment sector were enough to offset the modest decline in the detached sector resulting in year-to-date sales growth of nearly…
